Our GFRG designs here at GC Products are designed using CAD software, which we use to create a mold that perfectly pours your GFRG designs.

Yet even the best plans sometimes run into challenges. Some builders find that the GFRG wall piece, ceiling piece, panel, or some other item just doesn’t quite fit correctly and needs to be cut in order to fit the space provided.

Can GFRG Be Cut?

As a gypsum product, GFRG can be cut if you need to shape it to fit its frame. But because it is reinforced with glassfibers, it will require some special tools – although most of which you likely have on hand.

Specifically, cutting GFRG requires blades (or drills, if needed) made for metal, not for wood. The reinforced gypsum tends to chip with wood cutting blades. The more blades per inch, the better the cut tends to be.

Other Tips for a Better Cut

Rushing through each cut has a tendency to lead to chips, so it is better to provide a slow and steady cut through the gypsum.
